Devotis (Mrs. D) Lee
Owner of D Café and Catering
Devotis G. Lee, Owner of D Café and Catering felt the calling to be an entrepreneur back in Corporate America, So it’s no surprise that she turned her talents for Food Management and preparation into a thriving Catering business in 2009 and she hasn’t looked back. Since starting her business in Atlanta, GA; Devotis’s business has grown from doing small events to doing large –scale events and in 2013 she became owner/operator of D Café ad Catering.
Devotis Lee credits her many years of employment with UPS as the force behind her being a successful business women/owner. The skills she learned during her career at UPS taught her professional Customer Service and Relations, which is much needed in her business.
Growing up in Atlanta, Devotis decided to attend Morris Brown College. She went on to further her education in Business, Hospitality Management and various continuing education programs in food management and other food service related studies. Community Institute of Atlanta, Interise, SBA.
Devotis has served her community faithful by her volunteer efforts with groups such as the SCLC W.O.M.E.N. Inc. During her years their she served for five years as Program Director for Bridging the Gap a mentoring program for girls. She served as a Volunteer for the Georgia Dept of Corrections. She also seved on the Red Cross Minority Advisory Board as the secretary to the President. During her membership she along with Cal Darden was able to implement several programs forgoing a lasting and successful relation between UPS and The Red Crosswhich saved many lives.
Some of her other noted accomplishments are as followed; she received The Outstanding Georgia Citizen Award from the Secretary of State. She also received several awards from The 100 Black Women of Atlanta and The Women of Achievement Award from YWCA. Soul food Award, Best Soul Food Taste. Teaching Life Skill classes in Prison, Hiring Juveniles for reform.
Devotis’ s expertise and biz savvy are the result of several years of owning and operating her business. Taking the entrepreneurial leaps of faith as she learned the ropes of her industry has proven to be a road to success for her.
While in business she has attended several classes to help grow and sustain her business. Community Leadership of Atlanta, Intown Southwest Atlanta Small Business Bootcamp, Toastmasters,
SBA Interise, Streetwise MBA, ICIC Cohort, Interise Strong Alumini.
Robert Allen (Chef G.)
My journey to the food industry started at a young age. I have always watched cooking shows, which first ignited the culinary fire that burns within me. I prepared meals for my siblings in my youth. I became inquisitive of the field, due to the numerous compliments from friends and family. I started baking peanut butter cookies for instant income and it spiraled into a path of culinary curiosity. That curiosity grew into a love for the arts that provoked my sharpening of the craft. My mother and I set course on a mission to create great food and service as independent caterers for those who wanted to host an event with food spurred from the heart. Now after several years of repeat customers and industry acknowledgement we are still striving to grow and increase our popularity, throughout our city, state, and country! We will continue to put love in every dish for everyone that we service!
Alexis Lee, an Atlanta native and graduate of Turner McNeil High School, has been employed in the Customer Service and Hospitality Industry for many years. He has worked for Four Star Hotels, Country Clubs and Delivery services from Entry level to management. His background adds great value to the continued growth and success of D Cafe and Catering and D Events. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from Morris Brown College and completed a certificate program at Columbus Technical College in The Hospitality Industry. He is Serv Safe Certified. A volunteer for Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Red Cross, and NAN-Atlanta Chapter. Married with Five Adult Children. He attended Interise Conference 2020 in Boston with his business partner(his wife) which sparked the fire of bottling D Cafe sauces.
